Delhi and Mumbai are the main cities used for international travel. You can even call Delhi twin cities-Old Delhi and New Delhi. Old Delhi was the capital of India during the Muslim rule from the 12th to the 19th century. New Delhi was created later under the British imperial rule. After a late breakfast, panoramic sightseeing tour of the Indian capital, with highlights such as the Raj Ghat, where the "Father of the nation", Mahatma Gandhi, was cremated; the 72 meter-high Qutab Minar; the 1500 year-old Iron Pillar; the Humayun' Tomb; Jama Mosque; the famous Red Fort of the Moghul Emperors; and the most important government buildings, such as President's House, the Parliament Building, India Gate, and Connaught Place. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Day-03 Delhi - Mandawa (270km / 169miles) American Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we leave Delhi and motor to Mandawa, Mandawa. Spread over Jhunjhunu, Sikar and Churu districts in north western Rajasthan, Shekhawati region is known for its beautifully painted havelis (merchants houses), found in nearly 20 towns and villages. Mandawa is one of them. Besides the cenotaphs, wells, forts and temples, the majority of frescoes are painted on the walls and gateways of havelis. The Shekhawati paintings mainly consisted of red, green, yellow, brown, blue and mushroom colours. Mandawa was founded in the early 18 th century, and is dominated by a rugged fort (now a hotel). Arrive and check in at MANDAWA DESERT RESORTS Afternoon city tour, including the historical fortress and the bazaar with its painted houses, known as "havelis" (mansions), with their famous frescoes, a local specialty since the early 19th century. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Day-04 Mandawa - Bikaner (170km / 107miles) American Breakfast at the hotel. This morning we drive to the city of Bikaner. Bikaner was a bustling trade centre in the yesteryears and figured on the caravan routes from Africa to Asia. The walled city of Bikaner stands on the northern tip of the desert triangle. It is situated on elevated ground, surrounded by a 7km long embattled high wall. Monuments here are chisled out of red and yellow sandstone and display some of the finest characteristics of the Rajput civilisation. Bikaner boasts a spectacular fort and an old city dotted with havelis, and colurful bazaars Arrive and check in at HOTEL HERITAGE INN ( A MODERN HOTEL) Later . Sightseeing tour of Bikaner, with as absolute highlight our visit to the 16th-century fort, a byzantine complex of palaces, pavilions, and temples connected by paved courtyards, narrow staircases, and terraces. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. ![]() American Breakfast at the hotel. Later drive to Jaisalmer - The name Jaisalmer evokes a vivid picture of sheer magic and brilliance of the desert. Local colour and warmth prevail over the inhospitable and forbidding terrain, imbuing the medieval town with a special magic. One of the main attractions is the imposing 12th century Jaisalmer Fort. The beautiful havelis which were built by wealthy merchants of Jaisalmer are yet another interesting aspect of the desert city. Arrive Jaisalmer and check in at HOTEL FORT RAJWADA (heritage hotel) Dinner and overnight in the hotel. Day-06 In Jaisalmer American Breakfast at the hotel. A day of relaxed sightseeing in Jaisalmar, with visits to the 12th-century "Golden Fort", the beautiful Jain Temples, narrow lanes lined with exotic havelis, and Gadisar Lake, which used to be the only source of water for the entire city and is surrounded by a number of shrines. Also ample time to take advantage of the excellent shopping available in the citys exotic markets and bazaars! In the evening you will drive down to Sam Dunes where you can ride a camel before watching the sunset. Return to hotel Narayan Niwas where you will have your dinner today. Return to your hotel for Overnight. Day-07 Jaisalmer - Jodhpur (300km / 188miles) American Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we motor to Jodhpur, one of the most fascinating cities in India. JODHPUR - The city has a history of battles and royalty as is highly evident by the huge Meherangarh fort overlooking the city. There are some old monuments to see here and you can make a stop before heading to other places in Rajasthan. Did you know that the famous baggy/tight riding trousers called Jodhpuris take their name from this city? The city which stands at the edge of the Thar desert, was founded by Rao Jodha, a chief of the Rajput clan known as Rathores in 1459. Arrive Jodhpur and check in at HOTEL AJIT BHAWAN PALACE (Heritage hotel) Afternoon city tour, with the famous red sandstone fort, built five centuries ago and containing the handsome Maharajahs palace, and Jaswant Thada, a royal memorial built in pure white marble, Umaid Bhawan Palace, and Mandore Gardens. Also opportunity to shop in local markets. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Day-08 Jodhpur - Ranakpur - Udaipur (260km / 163miles) American Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we resume our Odyssey through Rajasthan. We visit Ranakpur in the lovely Aravali Valley, famous for its Jain Temples, then continue to Udaipur. Udaipur is the most romantic of all the Rajasthan cities and one of the most exotic places in Asia. The city's palaces, havelis, temples sets it apart from the rest of the cities. It is also popular for its crafts, paintings and performing arts. The lake palace is the best example of the unique cultural explosion. Udaipur has rightly been called Venice of the east. You can see the city from a boat or from the rooftop of palaces, the view is marvelous, it makes you forget the world. Day-09 In Udaipur American Breakfast at the hotel. Morning sightseeing tour of Udaipur, including the City Palace and its museums, Jagdish Temple, and Sahelion-ki-badi. Later you will be transfer to the fabulous Lake Palace hotel for a delicious buffet lunch in the luxurious setting at this hotel. Afternoon boat ride on Lake Pichola. The evening is free and you will have the opportunity to explore the city on your own. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Day-10 Udaipur - Deogarh (135km / 85miles) American Breakfast at the hotel. Today we continue via Nagda and Eklingji with their temples to Deogarh. Arrive Deogarh and check in at hotel DEOGARH MAHAL (Heritage hotel) Built in 1670 on the architectural plans of theSompura architects, this large palace has over two hundred rooms at five different levels. Theoverall symmetry remains undisturbed despite a plethoraof balconies, windows pillars and staircases. One can enjoy the beautiful murals and mirrors work in the castle. Only few rooms are open to guests, regional cuisine is served in the opulent dining hall. Rest of the day free to explore this small town. You will also visit a village. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Day-11 Deogarh - Jaipur (250km / 156Miles) American Breakfast at the hotel. Leave for Jaipur by road. In the afternoon we drive to Jaipur. Jaipur the `Pink City' as it is popularly known, is the bustling capital of Rajasthan. `Pink city' because most of the buildings are pink in colour in the old city. The city retains its old self, at the same time it is moving fast as a modern city. You can see extreme contrast on the streets of Jaipur. On one side you have cars, buses and motorbikes, on the other side you can see camel carts. On one side there are traditionally dressed men and women in their turbans and colorful long skirts and blouses. Day-12 In Jaipur American Breakfast at the hotel. This morning you will be given excursion to the Amber Fort, 11kms from Jaipur city. This fort-palace was begun by Raja Man Singh and used by the Rajputs as their stronghold until Sawai Jai Singh II moved to the newly created Jaipur. You will visit the palace and its many intricate chambers and hallways, which has breathtaking views of the Jal Mahal (Water Palace) below. Elephant taxis will be reserved for you for a memorable ride upto the fort Later enjoy a tour of the city visiting the Maharaja's City Palace, the Jantar Mantar Observatory and the Palace of Winds. Also, drive past the rose-pink residential and business areas of Jaipur Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Day-13 Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra (225km / 141miles) American Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we motor to Agra, with a visit en route to the ghost town of Fatehpur-Sikri, originally built by Moghul Emperor Akbar but deserted due to lack of water. Continue your drive to Agra. Agra, the name brings to our mind superb monuments including the magnificent Taj which is one of the seven wonders of the world. Agra is the symbol of a bygone era. The era, when the Mughals ruled India. As a reminder of their glorious past they have left behind some beautiful monuments. The one and the only Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Jehangir's Palace. The list of the monuments is endless. Day-14 In Agra The very best is kept for the last day! we visit the Taj Mahal, unquestionably one of the most beautiful buildings in the entire world, Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays) built in 1630 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his deceased wife Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. The monument has been described as the most extravagant ever built for love, for the emperor was heart-broken when Mumtaz, to whom he had been married for 17 years, and who died in 1629 in childbirth soon after delivering her 14th child. Later. Return to the hotel for Breakfast. Later visit to the magnificent Agra Fort, -really a city within a city which embraces the Moti Masjid, the Diwan-i-Amor the Hall of Public Audiences, the Diwan-i-Khas or the Hall of Private Audiences,the Octagonal Tower, Jehangir's Palace and many more monuments. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Day-15 Agra - Delhi (205km / 128miles) Morning free. Late afternoon leave for Delhi by road. Arrive at hotel Centaur in time for dinner.
